Happy New Year everyone! I must say it’s been a crazy year. Setting up this blog, improving my designs with each project, trying to provide quality content for the web – I’ve learnt a lot from all these experiences. 2014 has definitely made me a better designer. To begin with, I am adding more consistency to DesignerHype. There are various post series planned to be released constantly, each week. This first post in 2015 will be the first in its category. Each week, I will post news from around the web – everything I consider worth checking out, resources to help you design and develop, learn or just inspire.
News, Releases and More Interesting Things
Envato’s free files of the month for January 2015 are great, as usual. From a free beautiful multipurpose WordPress theme (worth 43$) to beautiful stock music and After Effects templates, you will surely find something to use in your projects.
Newsmag, an amazing WordPress theme by TagDiv, almost hits 1000 sales. It is an amazing news/publishing template and has been trending from its release less than 2 months ago. I love it!
New monthly illustrated backgrounds by Smashing Magazine were just released. Go check them out. I am currently using “The Early January Bird”.
CSSauthor’s weekly roundup of newly released free stock photos from all over the free stock photo websites is a great resource to see only the new stock photos of the week.
Envato’s Market retrospective article points out 100 great things that happened at Envato in 2014. Very inspiring article.
See 100 greatest free fonts for web design of 2014 in a great collection article published on Webdesigner Depot.
Best 130 free WordPress themes of 2014. A huge and truely amazing collection worth having a look at. I imagine there was more than a lot of work to put together such a consistent list.
Materialize – a front-end framework based on Material Design, said to be the design trend for 2015.
Top DesignerHype freebies released since launch
Appee – free landing page PSD – a nice little project, which currently is the most downloaded freebie on DesignerHype.
30 free blurred backgrounds – this post has also received good feedback. Blurred backgrounds are very popular now in web design and I am happy to help with a resource of my own.
Plainee UI Kit – This is the freebie I’ve worked the most on and I’m happy to offer it for free to you, guys. It contains 26 carefully-designed widgets to be used for clean Uis.
Speakers PSD – a semi-realistic approach (and my first one as well) on a set of speakers. They’re inspired from the set I am currently using for my PC.
